Most Nandi Hills day trip plans end at about nine in the morning. You leave Bengaluru in the dark, watch the sunrise from the top, eat something at the base, and then — with the whole day still ahead — drive back into city traffic. It is a long way to go for three hours.
There is a better shape for the day. Nandi Hills and Club Cabana are both in the same northern corner of Bengaluru, either side of the airport, so the sunrise can be the first half of the day rather than all of it. This plan sets out the timings, what to carry, and how the two halves fit together.
Why pair Nandi Hills with Club Cabana
The two work together because they need different parts of the day. Nandi Hills is at its best at dawn — the view over the clouds is the reason people go — and by mid-morning it is mostly a hilltop with a car park. Club Cabana opens at 9:00 AM and runs until 5:30 PM, with a water park, rides, games and meals included in the day package. Done in this order, the hills take the cool early hours and the water park takes the warm ones.
The drive between them is short compared with the drive back to the city, and it runs along the airport side of Bengaluru rather than through it.
The Nandi Hills day trip plan, hour by hour

Before dawn — leave Bengaluru
Nandi Hills is roughly 60 km north of central Bengaluru. For sunrise, most visitors leave the city between 4:00 and 4:30 AM, which also means the roads are empty. Families coming from north Bangalore — Yelahanka, Hebbal, Devanahalli — can leave later.
Around sunrise — the viewpoint
Arrive before first light if the view is the point of the trip; on weekends the queue at the gate and the car park builds quickly. Allow an hour or two at the top: the sunrise itself, a walk along the paths, and Tipu's Drop if you have time. The hilltop is noticeably colder than the city at dawn, especially between November and February, so carry a light jacket for everyone.
Mid-morning — drive down to Club Cabana
Come down the hill and head south towards the airport. Club Cabana is at Sadahalli, just before the International Airport toll gate. Arriving between 9:00 and 10:00 AM puts you at the park when the water is at its quietest.
Breakfast — at the park, not on the roadside
After a pre-dawn start, breakfast is the first thing anyone wants. Club Cabana's day packages come with or without buffet breakfast; for this plan, the breakfast packages make the most sense — adults from ₹2,100 and children aged 5 to 10 from ₹1,800, plus GST. The full list is on the day outing packages page.
Late morning and afternoon — the water park and rides
This is the half of the day that the usual Nandi Hills trip skips. Every day package includes the water games — the wave pool, lazy river, water slides and kids pool — and two rain dance slots, as well as the complimentary indoor and outdoor games. Lunch is a vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet, and hi-tea follows in the afternoon. The amusement park page lists every ride and activity.
After an early start, the lazy river and the jacuzzi are the right speed for the adults. Children rarely need a reason to be in the water.

5:30 PM — head home
The park closes at 5:30 PM. From the airport side, the drive back into central Bengaluru is about an hour, depending on traffic.
Who this plan suits
Friends' groups who want the sunrise photos and a full day out, not just the photos.
Families with older children who can manage the early start and will happily spend the afternoon in the water.
Visitors to Bengaluru who have one free day and want to see the city's best-known viewpoint without spending the rest of it in traffic.
For families with toddlers, the pre-dawn start is usually too much. A better version is to skip the sunrise, visit Nandi Hills in the morning, and arrive at the park by late morning — or to split it across two days with a villa stay in between.
What to carry
A light jacket or shawl for the hilltop at dawn
Swimwear and a change of clothes for the afternoon
Water and a small snack for the drive up — breakfast comes later
Sunscreen for the afternoon in the water park
Phone chargers: it is a long day of photos
Make it a weekend instead
If the 4:00 AM start is the obstacle, reverse the plan. Spend a day at Club Cabana and stay the night in a villa — check-in is at 2:00 PM, and dinner and next morning's breakfast are included — then drive to Nandi Hills the following morning. The details are on the villa stay page. Families who live nearby may also like our guide to a family resort near Devanahalli, and there are more ideas in things to do near Bangalore airport.
Book the second half of your day
The sunrise is free to plan. The rest of the day is easier with a booking: choose a package on the day outing page or book tickets online. Directions are on the getting here page.
